A young writer's thoughts about green living and current events

Is your pH balanced?

After visiting the Vancouver Health and Wellness show, an older gentleman asked me, “Is your pH balanced?”  I really had no idea. He gave me a pH test trip to use during my next visit to the loo.

I try to maintain a healthy diet but had never considered his question before.  So how did I score? Luckily I was only slightly below neutral. On the pH scale, any number above 7 is alkaline and any number below is considered acidic. My results led me on a new adventure which was trying to boost my pH.

There is an abundance of information that explains how one can naturally balance his or her pH. All you need to know is what foods are acidic and alkaline forming in the body.  Different sources state how much alkaline food one should intake, but it ranges anywhere from 65-80% of your total diet. Initially I thought it would be as simple as a chart diving food into these two categories. As it turns out, each food group can be categorized into varying degrees.

Check out this pH balance chart to get an idea:

Balancing your pH is essential for feeling healthy and balanced.  Too much acidity in the body is the foundation for many diseases.

Now next time your body feels out of whack, look up a pH balance chart to see what your body is lacking.
